 a fairy-tale of grass and butterflies 

Jovana Tomanovic was born in Belgrade in 1982. After elementary school studies in Moscow, she lives in Milano for the last 26 years, where she have graduated at the Art High School Hayeck and at the Fine Arts Academy of Brera in 2005 for the main painting section and also have taken a master degree in 2008 in Visual Arts with a specialisation in sculpture. Jovana have started to exhibit in collective and personal shows since 2001 and have participated in few exhibitions, but has never pretended to get into the art market as her paintings are painter by the soul and emotions and represents the way of our World as she sees it. No matter that she has travelled almost throw the whole globe she stuck to Nature in her artworks and probably finds in it the key of the Universe.

This last serial of works have been painted between two studios, in Milan and in Julian Alps starting 2015 up to now. A Slovenian village named Bovec is a place where the meditation and inspiration cames from and developes in two main themes of growing grass and giant butterflies. It's a small village surrounded by mountains and butterflies, alive by leaves' whispering, wind energy and magical sunsets, where life of plants mixes with the emerald color of Soca river, Jovana have created her fairy-tale story that you should interpret your way and since then hiking routine makes her feel alive and free.  

Dimensions are variable from the very small to occupy your house whole wall. One above all is her favourite format 150 x 250 cm as it fits perfectly to her body proportions. Particularity of Jovana's artworks is that classical and elegant oil painting technique that makes you discover the picture day by day deeper and with more and more particulars that you could ever imagine. Same like the nature does. Jovana presents deep and energetic approach to the contemporary everyday chaos.

This series of works 2015-2017, called new works 2016, have  been presented to the public for the first time during Arte Padova art fair, in November 2016, since then have been also exhibited in Montenegro since 2016 at the "Mirai" gallery and in two personal shows in Belgrade, in March at Dorcol Platz and in April-June 2017 in the concept store Jevremova 25.
